I'm Karen Nelson. I've been running Facebook and Instagram ads for established service, education, and expertise-based businesses for 10 years, and my agency has generated more than $10 million in client revenue.
That's the resume version, though, and it leaves out the part that probably matters more to you.
I had a computer in my house when I was 3 years old. My dad built them from scratch, I worked at his computer company, and I was soldering circuit boards as a teenager. Later I taught elementary school, and I was the only teacher in my building sending digital newsletters in the early 90s. When people hear "former teacher who runs Facebook ads," they tend to miss the part where I've been the weirdly-ahead-on-tech person my entire life. That's the part that actually matters for your ad account.
I started this business because I needed it to work. There was tuition to pay, and I was burning out in a job that was wringing me out day after day. I loved teaching. I just couldn't keep doing it the way it was asking me to.
So I started running ads, and it turned out I was good at it, and it turned out I could build something that let me be the kind of mom I wanted to be. A lot of the women I work with are somewhere in their own version of that story.
My agency is small on purpose. I have two grown-up kids and parents who are getting older, and I built this to fit around the people I love rather than the other way around. It's mostly women on the team, which is also not an accident.
I'm telling you all of this because a review like this is a fairly personal thing. You're handing me the offer you've built and the content you've made, and asking me what I honestly think of it. I'd want to know who was on the other end of that too.
